What Is SourceFlix Productions?

SourceFlix Productions is the title that we have given to Living Hope Ministries' media production arm. Many people only know Living Hope Ministries by our productions; nevertheless, media production is only one aspect of the ministry of our small church in Brigham City, Utah. As the ministry of Living Hope Church grows and expands, the name SourceFlix Productions allows us to distinguish the media production aspect from the other vital ministries that are a part of Living Hope.

Where did this new name come from?

The name SourceFlix was inspired by the way that God has always led us in our productions.

Our projects have relied heavily on common-sense evidence to refute deceptive teachings and defend biblical truths. We constantly depend upon "expert witnesses." Our method of educating ourselves (and then in turn, educating the viewer) has always been to go to the source--to get our information right from the horse's mouth.

Whether we are dealing with the hard facts, or testimonial pieces, we have always sought out the historical sources,the scientific sources, experiential sources, the academic sources, and the geographical sources. We do this so we can provide the most credible and solid case for each presentation we've undertaken. So the name SourceFlix is as much a reflection of how we've done things in the past, as it is how we envision doing things in the future.

The name also reflects our acknowledgement of the ultimate Source of understanding--God's Word, and the ultimate Source of life--Jesus Christ, the Word made flesh.

What has changed, then?

Very little, actually. The only thing that has changed is the scope and breadth of our projects. Our ministry goals and objectives are essentially the same--to refute false teachings, defend biblical authority, and point people to Jesus Christ alone as the only means of eternal life.

One exciting change that we have recently experienced is the addition of two film interns who are committed Christians and talented videographers. They have been volunteering their time and their talents (without compensation other than room and board) to help us move forward with this next project. We've updated some of our equipment, and remain committed to allowing ourselves to be stretched, and to learn and grow and strive for excellence in all we do.

We've certainly been stretched as we have allowed the Lord to guide our steps; but at a fundamental level, nothing important has really changed. SourceFlix Productions does not represent any kind of organizational restructuring, nor any deviation from the mission that God set before us some five years ago when the media ministry began. We remain committed to sharing biblical truths with Latter-day Saints, and all other seekers after truth.

So what is next for Living Hope Ministries / SourceFlix?

Our fifth documentary project deals with an insidious challenge to the historicity of the Gospels, and the person of Jesus Christ. In March of 2007, a documentary was released entitled "The Lost Tomb of Jesus." It represents one of many similar challenges to the foundation of biblical Christianity. This challenge is being used to thwart Christian outreach. Addressing these issues is crucial to reasoning not only with Mormons, but with anyone who questions or challenges the authenticity of the Bible. Learn more about this project.

We are also working on at least two other projects that will deal specifically with biblical history and authenticity, and the Mormon challenge to it. More details will be provided on these projects as they are developed.

We believe that God has led us, once again, to go to the source. In this case, to the geographical source, the land of the Bible, in order to address some specific challenges against the Bible. Our four-man production team has temporarily relocated to Israel, where we are spending several months working on this project, as the Lord leads and provides.

A new website, sourceflix.com, will showcase this documentary series as it is compiled (as well as our previous presentations). Not only that, but we will be posting short clips that offer a glimpse of what we're doing, where we're going, and who we're talking to. Currently, the website contains links to all four of our feature-length documentaries, as well as new video clips that we've posted since arriving in Israel. We invite you to check it out!

How is SourceFlix funded?

We are funded the same way we have always been funded--by God's provision, and the generous gifts of our supporters. Living in Israel is not cheap; even with a restricted budget, it is no small task to fund this endeavor. Yet the Lord has been providing us with what we need, when we need it, and we trust that He will continue to do so.
